Cycling 50 KM to Bagan siApi Api

Perjalanan 50KM Menghadapi Berbagai Macam Tantangan

Halo Teman-Teman,

Sungguh seru sekali aktivitas saya dan teman-teman hari Minggu kemarin. Kami bangun jam 5 pagi, untuk siap-siap berangkat ke kota Bagan siApi Api atau di singkat BAA. Perjalanan menggunakan mobil memakan waktu 2,5 Jam biasanya. Namun kali ini kami melewatinya dengan gaya yang berbeda.

Kami berTiga membawa sepeda MTB di atas mobil, dan mulai mengayuh sepeda ketika tiba di daerah Ujung Tanjung (kira-kira 80KM dari BAA). Pertama kam itidak menentukan target berapa KM yang perlu kami tempuh, perlengkapan semua sudah dipersiapkan. Ada mobil yang mengikuti dari belakang mengawal.

10 KM pertama terasa sangat ringan dan menyenangkan karena “Sesuatu yang Baru”. Di tambah udara yang menyejukkan di pagi hari, dan energi dari sarapan pagi yang masih penuh. 20 KM pun telah kami tempuh, salah seorang teman meminta untuk istirahat.

Setelah istirahat sejenak, 1 orang teman pun Give Up dan menaiki mobil bersama sepedanya. Tinggal kami berdua melanjutkan perjalanan. Sepanjang jalan kami menikmati pemandangan yang tidak selalu kami temui, seperti Sawah, Sungai Rokan, Perumahan kampung, bahkan saya ketemu seorang anak sedang main ayunan yang digantung di pohon yang besar. Di atas pohon tersebut terdapat sebuah rumah kecil yang dibuat, seperti masa kecil jaman dahulu. Seru sekali.

Setelah 30 KM, setiap 5 KM mulai terasa bagi kami. Kami tetap bertahan mencoba mengejar sebuah record baru dengan target 40 KM. Terus mengayuh dengan konsisten, meminum air secukupnya, dan setiap kali jam di tangan bergetar, menandakan 5 KM telah dilalui, maka kami semakin semangat mengejar 5 KM berikutnya.

Setelah 40 KM dan beristirahat sejenak untuk mengeringkan keringat yang menganggu pandangan, mengisi asupan kalori sedikit, kami berdua pun bertekad melanjutkan hingga 50 KM. Bahkan teman saya pun mengatakan: Mari kita teruskan sampai batas yang tidak dapat ditahan lagi.

10 KM terakhir ini terasa sedikit berat karena kami harus menghadapi jalan yang penuh dengan tanjakan dan udara yang sudah semakin panas. Sungguh puas rasanya ketika angin dingin berhembus, bahkan ketika melewati daerah yang penuh dengan pepohonan; badan ini rasanya berterima kasih sekali akan keteduhan yang dirasakan.

Pada KM ke 50, di mana masih tersisa sedikit energi untuk melanjutkan hingga ke kota BAA, kami pun memutuskan untuk mencukupinya. Suatu pencapaian yang baru, berbeda dan menarik. Kami pun kembali menaiki mobil untuk meneruskan perjalanan hingga kota BAA. Lega rasanya dapat duduk di mobil, mandi air dingin ketika tiba di BAA, dan menikmati segelas kopi susu hangat.

Tidak dilupakan pemandangan kota BAA yang begitu Tenang, Santai dan tanpa beban. Dan akhirnya menikmati kuliner khas Bagan yang Maknyusss…

Pada perjalanan pulang, dengan energi yang tersisa sedikit, namun semangat yang masih ada kami bertiga menemani seorang teman yang telah menunggu di kota BAA untuk ikut mengayuh sepeda pada perjalanan pulang ke kota Dumai. Kami mulai mengayuh sekitar jam 14.00, dan pada KM ke 22 saya dan seorang teman akhirnya tidak sanggup lagi karena cuaca sangat panas menyengat, jauh lebih menyengat dari pagi hari. Kedua teman lainnya akhirnya menyelesaikan usaha mereka pada KM ke 27 tepat pada sebuah mini market di mana kami menikmati air kelapa dingin dan roti sebagai imbalan atas usaha kali ini. Dan itulah perjalanan kami di hari Minggu kemarin, tiba kembali di kota Dumai pada pukul 19.00 WIB.

Rata-rata perjalanan menggunakan sepeda memakan waktu 15 menit setiap 5 KM, sehingga total perjalanan kami mengayuh sepeda kira-kira 3 Jam 45 Menit. Perjalanan panjang ini tentunya dapat kita jadikan pelajaran dalam menjalani hidup kita sehari-hari.

1. Start Easy at Your Own Pace (Mulai dengan mengikuti kemampuan diri kita dan tidak dipaksakan)
2. Ada kalanya kita perlu mencoba Go Beyond Limit
3. Menentukan Target sedikit di atas rata-rata
4. Breaking Down the Target into Segments (Membagi Target ke Segmen Kecil agar lebih mudah dicapai)
5. Tidak Puas Begitu saja pada saat mencapai target tertentu
6. Pertahankan Semangat yang tersisa untuk terus Maju dan Mencoba
7. Ketika Kondisi sudah tidak memungkinkan, Beristirahatlah
8. Jika Anda sudah pada Limit yang di atas rata-rata, Maka Bersyukur dan BerkeCukupan lah
9. Berikan diri Anda Reward setelah mencapai goal tertentu
10. Jangan berlebihan mereward diri Anda (Godaan kuliner kota BAA yang begitu menggiurkan terpaksa kami tahan dan waktu pun tidak mendukung karena di siang hari banyak tempat makan yang tutup)

Another Early Day

So, today was my 2nd day waking up earlier to send Ashley to school, cos my dad is out town. Result from the previous day early wake, I fell asleep earlier last night around 9pm. Plus a 27km bicycle ride on road bike in the afternoon, that makes the body need a hibernation. So didn’t follow much the TV shows last night – Hitam Putih as I fell asleep already after my 1 episode of Hawaii Five O Season 4.

My nature alarm woke me up at 6am, but I continue to sleep till 6.30 till the real alarm buzz. Same routines, go for nearer coffee shop but spend more time talking with one customer about tech. Then got home earlier than yesterday, started all my browsing tasks. Another ride today and I can reach to minimum of 3 hours ride a week on bicycle towards my lean body. Hopefully I can make it, and it shall be my routines.

Afterall, I thought maybe we really have to take good care of our body and health, and work more to earn more money for our retirement and for our kids. So, definitely lesser playing around during working hours. Find more sources of income, or else fight for revenue increase in the current business.

2013 Year in Review and 2014 in Ideas

So, 2013 is ending soon. Resolutions? I bet I forgotten about them. Or maybe I don’t have any in specific. Just move on accordingly and trying to survive the competitions.

Overall, quite satisfactory.

Business wise, its been bad from March to July, and we are moving up again there after. Hopefully in 2014 we can perform better, and in term of management, better team work and better margin is probably what I wanted to achieve next.

Health wise, its up and down. Being on the way to loose some weight, then gained a lot of weight almost 90 Kg, and now drop back down to around 86 Kg. Gotta work out more, and add on varieties to my workout.

And Life wise, we got another baby, its a girl. 12 November 2013. This means, I have to work harder and be a wiser dad. Control emotions, teach kids better and spend more time with family.

I have came to realize some improvements in courage, mindset and decisions making. Hopefully I will grow better in 2014. Thanks to the moderator tasks given to me at one of the Indonesia’s First Sales community – KOMISI, I have come to learn lots of things and become wiser. By 2014, I hope I can join more events organized out there in Jakarta, and improve myself better.

Afterall, we need to make a balance in everything in this life. With balance, you can feel the ease and smoothness of tasks and days ahead you. Be faithful of what you have already had, don’t expect too much, but try to work it out for what you might deserve. You deserve better, then work for it. That’s it. Merry X’Mas and Happy New Year 2014.

Life Challenges and Staying Consistent

Well, life has not been really easy and well balanced when you are reaching your early 30s. I’m gonna be 30 soon, having my 2nd child soon near the end of this year, and so life challenges has become harder and tougher now.

As you can feel if you are in the same position, being entrepreneur is not an easy job to do. Plus if you have a team which still needs lots of improvements and guidance. I am trying to automate everything in this business of mine without having to waste most of my time with small details which can be done by my apprentices. I like the world aprrentice here, since watching The Apprentice Asia. 🙂 From that tv serial itself, I learn how hard the world is, in order to become big and go national perhaps? (not international yet).

Definitely I have to earn more, work harder, smarter and STILL MUST keep the well balanced life (Eat, live, sleep, work out, family, entertainment, enjoy). Definitely lots to learn there to reach such balance. Lately I feel when I am working on 1 thing, another thing will be ignored and sacrificed. We have to choose wisely which to work on first, which to improve first, and then proceed further. Closing one eye on small problems and mistakes made by the apprentices sometimes really necessary. If I were to focus too much on their mistakes rather than how to improve everything overall, I would have stressed too much.

Not much workout too lately. I need a life. Sometimes I feel workaholic, sometimes I feel like athlete and I need to work out hard, sometimes I feel like CEO and I need to relax and enjoy my life. Definitely having any one of them right now is not good. Instead I have to balance them out, and live healthy first, then I can perform way better. My noise is getting louder as well lately, rising my voice on every mistakes made by my apprentices, rising my voice when my kid is being annoying and not listening, and so on. Up and Down

I feel life is going up and down, as in if we focus on something, the other thing has to be sacrificed and going down. Getting a balanced life is kinda a complicated thing to go through.

For example, if let say I focus on business, didnt go for cycling or any outdoor activities, then I got health degradation plus piling up body fat. Then I try to fix in a workout time like 4.30 pm onwards till 6.30 / 7.00 pm. Then my working time have to be really productive from the morning. But what turns out? Still lazying around in the office, thinking of things to do, but never actually do it.

I like planning marketing stuffs, all the customer relationship management job and making sure we are moving on the right path towards our goal in business. Perhaps we are almost there, I can feel the aura of the customers believing us slowly. Price is really a sensitive issue, but making sure price does not meant everything is gotta be a long way to fix on. And I am going towards that, cos we wont be able to survive long if we rely too much on price war.

Hopefully this is the correct path I chose. As for the accountings, documentations and all, still a hectic job to me. Kinda lazy to do that as it is very complicated and have to sacrifice a lot in the beginning in order for all of them to go synchronized and working smoothly.

Main goal now is to make sure I work out minimum 3-4 times a week. Then control the diet in such a way that I can live with vegetables and fiber rich food. Less nasi padang and fried foods / processed foods. And as in the business, making sure working and serving customer with humble heart. Then start on the accounting stuffs and once its all done and accomplished, I guess we can relax and enjoy all the hard works.

Life Lessons and Assignments

Been reading a lot lately about life assignments, life lessons and how to have a positive attitude against your surroundings.

Been through a lot since new year. All the changes that I have to kick start and make it a lifestyle to live through. Some are hard to start, some don’t last long.

Sports, I like sports, but have not had any since new year. Mountain Bike, Road Bike, Swimming trunk, dumbell, and all sorts of equipments, I had them all. But fixing a slot in between the daily routines is troublesome sometimes. Plus the rainy season which prevents me from cycling when I feel too, and its not raining when I don’t feel like cycling, and so on. See, there is a fight inside myself against what I wanted to be. I know all the way to go through them, but just to be able to stick to it is just so hard lately.

Have to really move my lazy ass and stop wasting too much time in front of computer.

Business wise been quite okay for a start, planning all sorts of programme and promotions to get more and more loyal customers, and definitely a returning customer. Management wise, still need some delegations, more staffs that are capable of doing some of my work. Customers nowadays are really hard to pleased. I guess we can’t pleased everyone. As there are certain people who are not in the same boat as we. They think differently, they never look far or even think of what will turn out after they purchase certain goods. I always make sure all the products that I sell are good quality, reliable and not a fake goods that gives high profit, but trouble later on. We try to be honest in giving services and providing goods to people. But some are just really taking advantage and still comparing here and there. Sometimes, just a small goods that cost nothing, not even 10 USD, are being compared a lot.

If you want guaranteed goods, good quality, not a scamming price, we provide that! We are going to prove it step by step until everyone realized. Our marketing campaign going to work for us for sure.

Money seems to be never enough, spending increases during these festive months, and Chinese New Year is coming near too. Consumptive lifestyle is not an option for me now. Unlike during my working day in Singapore. 🙂 Really missed shopping till you drop kind of feeling. Workout till you flood the floor. Eat all those nice healthy foods. All those kinds of feelings. They are nice though. I do dream of them sometimes, and feel really nice about be able to have them few years ago. 🙂 At least, not I have to fight for it too. Make it my destination.

Just jotting down some random thoughts during this boring weekend. There are piles of work to be done, but I am not working it through during weekend. Playing Clash of Clans all day long. Can never got bored of it apart from waiting for the army to be ready. So, that’s all for now. Gotta update this blog more. And start my reading again, and some sports routine, healthy eating lifestlye, and money making ideas. 🙂
